Continuity - industrial photo project for EVRAZ [TOP100]
"CONTINUITY" is photo project for EVRAZ corporate calendar, showing all manufacturing facilities of the Group - which are located thousands of kilometres away from each other.
Over three weeks, I visited five EVRAZ locations - in Tula, Kachkanar, Nizhny Tagil, Novokuznetsk, and Mezhdurechensk. I saw how steel is made and met with people, thanks to whom new bridges and stadiums come to life.
What truly inspired me was how all of them are interconnected with each other, despite the distance. To make steel in Nizhniy Tagil, you’ll need ore from Kachkanar and tons of coal mined in Siberia.
This grew into the core concept of the whole project:a single line made of drone’s lights connects 12 months in the calendar and all EVRAZ sites, from the West to the East.
The working conditions were very challenging: darkness, limited time for the night shoots, and the vastness of manufacturing facilities.
On the average, it took 3 to 5 hours to capture an ideal shot that matched the desired shape of light lines left by the drone.
You can’t program the drone to fly between the pillars of a conveyor or under the bucket of an excavator, so almost all of the shots had to be made manually.
Since I started aerial photography, I’ve worked with large sport brands, football clubs, automotive and construction companies. But this project was a real challenge and a new experience both for me and for EVRAZ.
