This is the largest wholesale market in Dhaka and there are more than a thousand stalls – a thousand eager entrepreneurs, a thousand shops full of goods, and thousands upon thousands of shoppers. The market is already open as early as 4am and normally will end around 11am.

Never too Young

Semporna Islands comprises the main islands of Bohey Dulang, Bodgaya and Tatagan with several other supporting islands namely Mantabuan, Sibuan, Omadal and Maiga. These regions are home to the Bajau Laut community, a seafaring tribe that exposes their children to the sea at an early age.

Old Guard

Jahai are hunters, fishers and collectors, surviving on game, yam and fruit from the forests. Like most indigenous people, they are generally shy. It will take quite a while to earn their trust. For generations, they have been living in the secluded area of the Belum Rainforest Reserve, far from civilization. At 78, Komubu bin Pisang is the eldest in his village. He is the old, the wise and the guardian of the village.
